Now this is a splendid idea and a very good move by the headteacher Mark Ranford at Berry Hill High School, I tip my hat.

Almost 60 new pupils at a secondary school have been given free bikes so they can cycle to class and keep fit.

Every Year Seven student who joined Berry Hill High School this term has received their very own cycle through the £10,000 scheme.

Now the youngsters are being trained up so they are safe riding on the roads and have also been handed cycle maps of Stoke-on-Trent, florescent jackets and maintenance kits.

Now can we please get more schools and parents to do this
