I have just signed up with 10:10 | Cutting 10% of emissions in 2010. We need to start to do something now, even if it is just a small step at the time.
I have been thinking for a few years now about this issue how to save energy or rather cutting the use of it at home and on my trips away. I think we are doing a pretty good job, cycling everywhere, turning light off when leaving a room, not having the heating blasting all the time, putting a jumper on etc.
That is a step on the way but I’m wondering if there is more I could do. Too bad that there aren’t any wind mill system or solar panel system cheap enough to install at home in the inner cities. Wind don’t work on a balcony, because it needs a free air flow, which is hard to come by in a city like London. Solar panels could work if you have a south facing balcony.
Both systems you can’t just put up and hope that you can got grid free, because the need a planning permission which is hard to come by. Since we as a whole in the UK don’t like the look of the windmills or the sound they make. But are happy to have whole street covered in satellite dishes, which just drain energy no make energy.
