The other day I was talking with a PE teacher, whom said that the free bus passes for under 16s is a very bad idea.

Simply because the kids would take the bus for just one stop. They would happily walk up to a bus stop, wait for the bus, then take the bus for a few stops, and then walk the last bit to where they are going.

Where walking directly to the location they wanted to get to, would be faster, since the bus would get stuck in traffic and the wait can also be quite long.

We need to get these kids walking or cycling, which will make general congestion in London much less.
